【摘要】:Theprocessesdescribedinthispracticecleanandprovideapaintbaseforthefinishingofmagnesiumandmagnesiumalloys.Serviceconditionswilldetermine,tosomedegree,thespecificprocesstobeapplied.1.1Thispracticecoversaguideformetalfinisherstocleanandthenprovideapaintbaseforthefinishingofmagnesiumandmagnesiumalloysusingchemicalconversioncoatings.Whereapplicable(forexample,aerospace)secondarysupplementarycoatings(forexample,surfacesealing)canbeused(seeAppendixX1).1.2Althoughprimarilyintendedasabaseforpaint,chemicalconversioncoatingsprovidevaryingdegreesofsurfaceprotectionformagnesiumpartsexposedtoindooratmosphereeitherinstorageorinserviceundermildexposureconditions.Anexampleistheextensiveuseofthedichromatetreatment(see5.2)asafinalcoatingformachinedsurfacesofdiecastmagnesiumcomponentsinthecomputerindustry.1.3Thetraditionalnumberingofthecoatingisusedthroughout.1.4ThevaluesstatedinSIunitsaretoberegardedasstandard.Nootherunitsofmeasurementareincludedinthisstandard.1.5Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
