【摘要】:ThispartofIEC61280providesuniformmethodsofmeasuringpolarizationmodedispersion(PMD)ofsingle-modeinstalledlinks.Aninstalledlinkistheopticalpathbetweentransmitterandreceiver,oraportionofthatopticalpath.Thesemeasurementsmaybeusedtoassessthesuitabilityofagivenlinkforhighbitrateapplicationsortoprovideinsightontherelationshipsofvariousrelatedtransmissionattributes.Theprinciplesofthisdocumentarealignedwiththoseoftheopticalfibreandopticalfibrecabletestmethod,IEC60793-1-48(seeBibliography),whichfocusesonaspectsrelatedtothemeasurementoffactorylengths.Instead,thisdocumentfocusesonthemeasurementmethodsandrequirementsformeasuringlonglengthsthatmightbeinstalled–andthatmightalsoincludeotheropticalelements,suchasamplifiers,DWDMcomponents,multiplexers,etc.PMDisastatisticalparameter.Thereproducibilityofmeasurementsdependsontheparticularmethod,butislimitedalsobythePMDlevelofthelink.Gisin[3]5)derivedatheoreticallimittothisreproducibility,byassuminganinfiniterangeofmeasuredwavelengthsandidealmeasurementconditions.NOTE1TestmethodsforfactorylengthsofopticalfibresandopticalfibrecablesaregiveninIEC60793-1-48.NOTE2TestmethodsforopticalamplifiersaregiveninIEC61290-11-1andIEC61290-11-2.NOTE3TestmethodsforpassiveopticalcomponentsaregiveninIEC61300-3-32.NOTE4GuidelinesforthecalculationofPMDforlinksthatincludecomponentssuchasdispersioncompensatorsoropticalamplifiersaregiveninIEC61282-3.WiththeexceptionofMethodD,allmethodsinthisdocumentmaybeusedtomeasurethePMDinthegainbandoflinksthatincludepumpedopticalamplifiers.Fortheselinks,amplifiedspontaneousemission(ASE)noisecangeneratedepolarizedspectralenergyintheneighbourhoodofthemeasurementwavelength.Thiswill,ingeneral,reducetheaccuracyofthemeasurement.ForMethodsA,B,C,EandF,thiseffectcanbemoderatedbyimplementinganopticalorelectricalfilteratthereceiveend.However,opticalfilteringwillnotremovetheASErightunderthesignalspectrum.Theaccuracywillthenbelimitedbyalowerdegreeofpolarization(DOP),ifthespectralwidthofthefiltercannotbesufficientlyreducedaswithabroadbandsource.LowerDOPmayrequirethesignaltobeintegratedlongertobemeaningfulortheresultwillbecometoonoisyandinterpretationwillbeerroneous.NoneofthemethodsissuitableformeasuringthePMDoflinkswithpolarizationdependentloss(PDL)inexcessof10dB.LinkswithPDLvalueslessthan1dBcanbemeasuredwithreasonableaccuracy.MeasurementaccuracymaybecompromisedbythepresenceofPDLinexcessof1dB.
